Popular Blood Pressure Drugs Increase Risk of Cancer
A new study finds that some popular blood pressure drugs, such as Diovan, Cozaar, Micardis, and Atacand, may be linked to cancer. These angiotensin-receptor blockers blood pressure drugs were associated with an 8% increase in the risk of a new cancer; however, there was no increase in the risk of dying from cancer. Although many are disturbed by the findings, some experts are finding the results irresponsible and are challenging the results. Also, many patients in the study were being treated with one of the seven available drugs, and if the results are true, there is still a chance that the findings may not apply to all of the medications. In addition, there is concern over whether the results would make patients stop taking these life-saving drugs.
